In the run-up to their party conference in Chicago, the Democrats placed election slogans around the city. Trump Tower, of all places, became a projection screen.
Things are not going well for Donald Trump at the moment. Since Kamala Harris replaced Joe Biden as the Democratic frontrunner, the former president has been bogged down in confused statements and furious attacks against his rival. Harris has now overtaken the Republican in some polls. And with a provocative ad placement, the Democrats are now likely to have taken another jab at the already irritated Trump. One day before the start of the Democratic National Convention the Democratic National Committee (DNC) had anti-Trump slogans projected onto Trump Tower in Chicago on Sunday, as reported by NBC News and others.
“Trump-Vance ‘fucking weird’”, was one of the occasional headlines. Or: “Harris Walz fights for you” and “Project 2025 HQ” – an allusion to the controversial conservative political plans written by a number of allies of former President Donald Trump and labelled “Project 2025”.
“This week, the entire country will see what it looks like to unite behind hope and a clear vision for a better future as Democrats rally behind Vice President Harris and Governor Walz”, the statement also reads. “While Donald Trump and JD Vance are fighting for themselves, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are fighting for you.”
The Trump campaign could not initially be reached for comment on Sunday evening.
The campaign was well received on social media. “The Harris campaign is doing some serious trolling at Trump Tower in Chicago, and I'm totally loving it”, wrote one user under a photo of the skyscraper with the message “Harris Walz Joy and Hope”. “I love this city so much”, another commented on the action, while the account “Republicans against Trump” surmised: “Trump must be pissed.”
