Musk, the strong man besides of Trump, attacked Italian judges very hard: “They must leave.” And the right-wing Salvini in Italy applauds: “Seen from abroad, everything is even more incredible.”
“These judges need to go.” This tweet Elon Musk dedicated to the magistrates of the immigration section of the Court of Rome (who yesterday released the last seven migrants detained in Albania), who had already been transferred to Italy last night on board the ship Visalli of the Coast Guard and housed in the Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers (Cara) of Restinco in Brindisi. By referring the matter to the European Court of Justice for dubious compatibility between the government's latest decree and EU rules, the magistrates have effectively blocked Giorgia Meloni's plans for the second time, heartened now by her friend Musk's tweet, immediately relaunched by Matteo Salvini: “He is right.”
Despite the certainty of repeating exactly the same script, more postponements and migrants brought back in a few days, the government has announced that it wants to continue transferring migrants to Albanian centres.
The goal, at this point, can only be to clash with the judiciary, to continue complaining about the “communist judges” boycotting the government. And if propaganda has to be, Musk's media clout can only please Meloni and her associates, who had already met him at Atreju, the Fratelli d'Italia youth party, where he was welcomed with open arms.
This is not the first time that the owner of X, Tesla and SpaceX has attacked the Italian judiciary. “It is scandalous that he's on trial for enforcing the law”, he had tweeted about Salvini on the day a conviction was sought for the minister in the Open Arms trial. “It should be that crazy judge who should go to jail for six years. Is there a legal case against Open Arms and its financiers?”, Musk had recoiled.
And the Lega leader Salvini said again: “Elon Musk is right. On 20th of December I could be sentenced to six years in jail for having blocked, as minister of the interior, the landings of illegal immigrants. Seen from abroad, all this seems even more incredible.”
