Maria Rosaria Boccia: “Sangiuliano Called me Secretly From his Wife and Made me Hear the Conversation”
In Luca Telese’s and Marianna Aprile's interview with Maria Rosaria Boccia on friday in the TV program “La7”, the woman clarifies the circumstance of the “woman's voice” she had overheard and reports that it was not she who secretly heard that voice calling for a “tear up of the contract” with the ministry, but it was the Minister himself who had made her overhear that discussion with his wife live on the phone, but without the latter's knowledge. “No, I am not happy, absolutely, he deserved that post, he is a very competent person, in my opinion also a good person.” Yesterday evening the Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano declared his resignation of his job. It was obviously that he was forced to that step by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Tho days before she denied such a solution in front of the press.
This is how Maria Rosaria Boccia comments – in an interview granted to In Onda on La7 – on the resignation of Gennaro Sangiuliano as Minister of Culture: For the 41-year-old at the centre of the scandal that has engulfed the now former minister, Sangiuliano “found himself in a situation that he did not know how to handle”. Was he wrong to leave? “Maybe today after all the media storm it was necessary, but he could have not done it, telling the truth from the beginning”, she replies in the interview.
“If the Minister Sangiuliano had told the truth, I would not be here. I only corrected the Minister's lies. And I continue to do so, unfortunately. Am I a spy? Absolutely not. I was not spying on the Minister, I was working with him”, said Maria Rosaria Boccia: “I am not afraid of the investigation, I simply told the truth.”
Regarding the phone call from his wife, Boccia explained that it was Sanguliano who called her “and he left the phone open and let me listen. I was not with the minister when he was talking to his wife, I never met the lady and I never heard him talking to his wife on the phone. Never. I was able to listen to this audio because the Minister in a conversation at his home with his wife called me and left the phone open without his wife's knowledge and I listened to the conversation”, says Maria Rosaria Boccia who, when asked if she was not the one who violated the woman's privacy, replies: “I did not violate it. In that conversation, “the wife was asking to snatch the nomination. So, I wonder, was the nomination snatched at the whim of a woman or because I didn't have the skills?”, Boccia urges.
