The man was killed at “Porta Nuova” station of Verona in northern Italy, hit by a bullet fired by one of the policemen on the scene. Reportedly, around 5 a.m. in Sunday morning , the victim attacked two traffic policemen who were noting an accident. Then he reached the train station where, in a probable altered state, he damaged several businesses including the ticket office and tobacco shop located at the entrance, as well as several cars parked in the parking lot in front of the station.
After disappearing, he reappeared later at the scene two hours later, at which point he was intercepted by police officers who tried to stop him for identification. However, at that moment, according to law enforcement reconstructions, the gunman lunged at one of the police officers, who shot him.
The victim is learned to be a foreign national. In front of the Porta Nuova station in Verona, in addition to the duty magistrate coordinating the investigation, Questorie Rosaria Amato with deputy Girolamo Lacquaniti, the commander of the local police, Luigi Altamura, intervened.
